AEVADS

An AEVADS (Automatic Emergency Voice and Directions System) is required for vessels certificated under Subchapters T, K, and H that do not operate on international voyages subject to SOLAS, have no overnight passenger accommodations, and are predominantly comprised of large public spaces which incorporates an LMVZ and/or a WMVZ that exceed 40 meters. These are typically found on large passenger vessels such as Casino boats, Dinner/Excursion vessels, and large Ferries (not carrying cargo or vehicles).

Working with a Fire Detection system, the AEVADS specifically plays Alarm and prerecorded Announcements through the Public Address system to indicate a fire or other emergency situation, to the passengers and crew to help in evacuating a specific area. These systems can be integrated with an entertainment music system provided the music system is muted during an emergency situation.

E.S.S. has had 15 years experience in designing and implementing AEVADS systems for vessels throughout the United States. Our personnel are familiar with and experienced in the approval process with the U.S.C.G. Marine Safety Center. We use the latest in computer monitoring and control to integrate the music, General Emergency Alarm, and public address systems to your Fire Detection system for seamless operation. Our system transmits real time, prerecorded intelligible speech messages throughout the vessel in all public and manned spaces.

They are meant to comply with and enhance General Emergency Alarm and Public Address systems required by 46 CFR Subchapter J, parts 110-113, as called out in NVIC 08-93.
